The Race of a Lifetime

Gabrielle Louise presents “The Muse’s Market”

On Saturday, May 7th popular Americana singer, Gabrielle Louise will present a variety show titled “The Muse’s Market”.  This is a nationally touring, carbon neutral, theatrical musical production presenting inspired musicians, educational speakers, spoken word poetry, and fine art in performance arts spaces where listening is a priority; i.e. a modern day Chautauqua.  The performance will be held at the Paradise Theater, but plan to stay at Paonia’s historic Bross Hotel Bed and Breakfast.  Call 970-527-6776 for reservations.

Sheep Camp/Stock Dog Trials

Mother’s Day Weekend, May 6-8, is the time to get out and treat Mother while keeping the rest of the family involved.  The Hotchkiss Sheep Camp and Stock Dog Trials meet those criteria.  More than 75 dogs from 11 states, along with their handlers will show off their teamwork during this three day event.  You’ll be amazed at the skill of these handlers and their dogs!  But that’s not all going on in Hotchkiss that weekend.  There’s a classic car show, a 5K run, a rabbit show and team penning at the Fairgrounds, special shows at the Creamery Art Center, and a huge yard sale event all over town.  To take in everything you need several days so plan to stay at the Bross Hotel Bed and Breakfast where you’ll experience the best in hospitality.  For reservations call now and we’ll pay your admission to the Stock Dog Trials.  970-527-6776.

Earth Day Celebration

Music is the key in Paonia's Earth Day 2011.  Earthjam will take place April 23rd at the Paradise Theater in Paonia.  It will feature three bands, a DJ, and a short multimedia presentation by Michael Meadows focusing on what some folks have done to further the cause of conservation and renewable energy.  Performing bands are: Ragged with roots rock; Mojo with dance music combining rock, reggae and ska; and songwriter and performer Joe Alan.  Top off the evening with a Late Night Dance Party hosted by DJ Smyth.  The action starts at 8:00 p.m. and goes on and on.  You won't want to miss any of it so stay at the Bross Hotel Bed and Breakfast just around the corner and you won't have to leave early to drive home.  Plus, you'll be treated to a great breakfast by host Chris.  So call Chris now to let him know you'll be there for breakfast -- 970-527-6776.

Chamber Music

Paonia’s Blue Sage Center for the Arts is sponsoring The Young Americans Chamber Music Program on Friday, April 15th.  Violinist Candace Guirao and pianist Susan Ellinger will perform the following American masterworks:  Aaron Copeland’s Rodeo, Philip Glass’s Sonata, and Charles Ives’ celebrated Children’s Day At the Camp Meeting Sonata.  They will perform Brahms’ famous Sonata in D Minor, also.  Enjoy the music, spend the night at Paonia’s historic Bross Hotel Bed and Breakfast, and savor all that spring in our fertile valley has to offer.  Remember, this is when the orchards are in bloom so you’ll want to stay for two nights.  Call the Bross Hotel for your reservation now -- 970-527-6776.

Paonia Film Festival

The First Paonia Film Festival was held March 24th with a sold out crowd. By popular demand a second screening of the films is being held April 8th at 7:00 pm. at the Paradise Theater.  The diverse and entertaining line-up of short films (3 to 20 minutes) fall in the following categories: student, creative promo, documentary, comedy, music, drama and art house.  Filmmakers hail from across Western Colorado, including Paonia, Hotchkiss, Cedaredge, Grand Junction and Norwood.  Plan your evening to include the open house at the Bross Hotel Bed and Breakfast and a night’s stay at this historic hotel.  Call 970-527-6776 for reservations.

Open House

The Bross Hotel Bed and Breakfast is hosting an open house April 8th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.  Join us for music, wine tasting, and appetizers.  It’s your opportunity to visit with folks in the North Fork Valley, learn about the area and all that it offers for both visitors and residents.  And, of course, it’s our chance to introduce you to the beautiful, historic Bross Hotel.  Chris and I, Linda, will look for you.
